My part brother Griswold (aka Falcon) is now a year older!  I have sketched this guy out on this day for the last 10 years!  Sometimes I am really consistent….sometimes not.  Either way, happy birthday buddy!

Big 8 Conference Champs!

This past soccer season was my 18th with the Varsity Girls Soccer team up at the High School.  In that time we went from very bottom to the very top of our conference league. Always looking forward and going in the right direction.  Also, it is amazing to think that the first Conference Championship in the history of the program had a little Cleveland playing on the team:). She definitely has come a long way since “Kinderball”! Sheeeeeeeeeeesh.

Eric Carle.

I love Eric Carle.  He has been a person, artist, I have taught about all the way through my art teaching career so far!  I even remember growing up with his art and books when I was a youngster.  He is about simplicity to me.  Take what you have and create with it...that’s all. What do you have?  There you go! Sorry to see he is now gone....but his legend and lessons live on....I will see to it as far as the kiddos I teach! 

May the 4th has even these bad boys smiling:)

Spring Break!

Spring Break 2021...we were suppose to take a family RV trip down to the gulf...our RV we rented had damage so all of a sudden our vacation was off:). We definitely made the most of our Spring Break together anyway...because that is what we do.  If you can’t “be there” at least you can “draw there”.  Have a good one everyone...regardless!

The Mural.

The mural we have been working on at my school taught my students what UNITY is....and when you have unity you learn what LOVE is.

Year of the OX!

This past couple of weeks I have had Mike Lroy joining me and my art classes at Westside Elementary School! He is leading us as we paint a mural of UNITY at my school. Faith Ringgold.

Last week’s artist I taught about was Faith Ringgold. She taught that you can fly!  “Anyone can fly. All you need is somewhere to go that you can’t get to any other way.  The next thing you know, you are flying among the stars.” -Faith R.

Alma Thomas.

I really enjoyed teaching about Alma Thomas to my students this week!  Her art and life speak to me a bit.  She comes from 4 sisters, I have 4 daughters, she was an art teacher (and kindergarten teacher) for 35 years, I am an Art Teacher, When she retired she became a full time artist, me too....well not yet...but that is my plan!  Now if only she played and coached soccer that would take the cake:)

Inspired.

I now have a new favorite poem.  I was truly inspired by Gorman’s poem...”The Hill We Climb”.  We face much...so let’s face it!

Beanert the bird feeder.

Our dog Beanert apparently eats birds.  I learned that today!  My youngest daughters walk the pup every morning before school and they weren’t really paying close attention, so when they looked down at Beanert they noticed that he was eating a bird!  I learned a whole new meaning of what a bird feeder is:) So naturally I sketched it out.

Backyard.

Saw this little guy in my backyard today after school as I was sipping a cup of tea. Grabbed my iPad and doodled him out....next thing you know three of his friends showed up.  They probably wanted a free sketch as well....but I didn’t have all day;).

2021 is here!  Even though there is daylight for our future, don’t ever forget where you have come from.  Life is a story...enjoy it all.  Happy New Year!  

Coffee....good.

Ever wonder what Mr. Coffee actually looked like?  Well, this year we hosted a carefully planned out Cleveland Family Christmas get together, especially since we are in a pandemic that calls for quarantining.  And my coffee maker was way to slow for the crew we had.  So I told everyone not to worry, I know how to fix it...so as I was fixing it, a shiny brand new state of the art coffee maker showed up out of nowhere!!! I then became at that moment....Mr. Coffee!  Thanks for the gift family!
